“Holy Spirit and i” will encourage and provide a roadmap to the skeptic and discouraged while providing a revealing and warm personal account of love and victory over adversity.
Christina accompanied the Holy Spirit through 23 years in Germany under the Weimar Republic, Hitler’s Nazi Germany, then the Communists behind the Iron curtain: and, then later spent 20 years in Saudi Arabia. The fact is, only examples of real life experiences can make it clear to most readers how to recognize the touch of the Holy Spirit in their personal lives. The Holy Spirit is the least understood person of the Trinity, therefore a book like “Holy Sprit and i” is greatly needed.
The book tells of the Holy Spirit saving her from the danger of war in Nazi-Germany; He protected her from the brutality of communism and later directed her to find freedom in America. Through the valley of deep sorrow when she had to leave her homeland with little hope to return, was confounded by the` unexpected news of her mother’s death that turned great joy into sadness, and later loosing her home again because of the tragic accident of her husband Paul.
Christina Fez-Barringten is an ordained minister with a bachelor of arts in Bible theology from Global University. She and her husband founded the Saudi Arabia Division of the International Correspondence Institute and taught Bible Theology in Saudi Arabia. Barie was contact pastor for the Assemblies of God to the United States Air Force (USAF) and associate professor at Global University.

We met for lunch at the Edison Restaurant on the famous McGregor Boulevard lined
with Royal Palm Trees in Fort Myers in Southwest Florida. I could not keep from a huge
smile to think of the privilege of this moment – a Divine surprise! Here was my good friend
of many years on the other side of the table. I have always known she was an amazing
woman! But now, after reading her book, I was seeing her through a new perspective. I felt
almost like a little girl seeing a princess for the first time. I had just read Christina’s
discovery of the Holy Spirit as God’s Heavenly Agent revealing Jesus Christ.
What an amazing woman! I was having lunch with a truly gifted artist with had
previously had a future as bright as the midday sun. This gracious lady had become a
trusted guest in some of the finest homes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Holy Spirit
had arranged her life to be used in amazing ways to make God and His ways known to
others in that world of intrigue and constant uncertainties.
I admired Christina and her husband, a renowned architect who was sought after for
designing cities and modern works of structural splendor reflecting the shapes of a world
quite unlike the West. They moved about in the circle of friends and business associates of
the highest level in their Middle East assignments. She had often shared privately in
hushed tones the details of the danger and drama of their simple lives with very complex
agendas. They make an incredible impact for Christ wherever they serve. Their
multicultural and multilingual backgrounds make them sought after globally, but there was
a Divine order to their professional lives which can only be accounted for by understanding
their faith—their personal trust in Jesus Christ as Life. How else could you account for the
way the Holy Spirit used them to make Christ known among the unreachable—especially in
regions where Jesus, Christ of God, was not believed to be anything more than a great
teacher and a prophet of the second and third order?
Christina is always full of life – a Life not her own—a Life which the Holy Spirit was
working to make known to her long before I met her. In our first meeting years before, I
was a bit overwhelmed with the vast panorama of her involvements and her eagerness to
get her message to everyone. She was aflame with zeal for God. The language of
Christina’s heart is unique as is the language of God’s revelation of Himself to us.
Christina’s eager desire to speak of the Holy Spirit’s work in business and
professional involvements is always missional – an appeal to get others involved. She
recruits others to prayer so they, too, become passionate in making Christ known. The Holy
Spirit is always at work bringing people to Christ she would say.
It was not until I read Christina’s manuscript that I realized I was friends with
someone I had not really known. Her world before we met was an unfolding revelation of a
“spirit” who “did this” and eventually of the “Holy Spirit” who “did this and that.” At first,
Christina did not even know who the Holy Spirit was. She merely recognized that it was God
present in her ordinary circumstances of life.
Experiencing first moments of Divine intervention makes it clear to us – eventually–
that we all matter to God and that He intentionally reveals Himself time and time again,
even before we fully understand! Often we don’t realize Who it is Who is orchestrating our
lives and what His intentions are toward us. Each time God acts to make Himself known to
us, the Holy Spirit is at work!
Christina’s journey to the heart of God’s lavish love begins with the Holy Spirit simply
“drawing” her to God! Recognizing and understanding God’s love-gift, Jesus Christ, takes

time. God pursues us by His Holy Spirit by lovingly enticing us to Himself – to that place of
acknowledging and recognizing the One Who became our Sacrifice for sin, God’s perfect
sinless Lamb, Jesus Christ.
At first sign of God’s pursuit, Christina begins to recognize that circumstances are not
coincidental. They are orchestrated by God. The Holy Spirit works in ways the natural
thought processes often overlook. Yet, He continues in ordinary circumstances to get our
attention, hoping to capture our hearts with His love. It is the Holy Spirit’s gracious wooing
of our hearts to finally receive Jesus Christ into our lives, fully yielding to His Lordship.
This relentless pursuit by God to reveal His lavish love is evidence of the uniqueness of our
value and worth to God. We are His choice creatures of all creation – created in His image
to reflect His likeness and bring others to know His salvation through Jesus Christ, the ONLY
Way, Truth and Life.
Christina speaks in such a way as to show the Holy Spirit’s many attempts to develop a
reasoned response and viable understanding of Who it is that is at work in her life to bring
her to the Cross of Jesus Christ in full surrender to His Lordship.
With minimal understanding at firstof the depths of God’s love in specific and intentional
ways, Christina gives us a delightful series of vignettes which entice us to discover some of
the Holy Spirit’s impact in His relentless pursuit to reconcile us to God.
If you are seeking to know God and have friends who yet do not recognize His intentional
love toward them, Christina offers examples of ways God drew her to Himself by the Holy
Spirit’s working. He kept at it until her response was one of understanding Who He is,
responding fully to Christ and ultimately enjoying His Presence in her life and allowing the
power of the Holy Spirit to use her in places of impossible circumstances, even where her
life was endangered.
The ultimate joy of this book is that we have been led into the faithful heart of God who is
not willing that any should perish. He has made it possible for us all to know His love
through Christ Jesus and His ultimate sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. It is the Holy Spirit
at work in His faithful love-pursuit of each person on the globe – drawing them into the
Father’s love through the gift of God – Jesus Christ.
This may be the beginning of the Holy Spirit’s pursuit of you. You are a unique person
created in the image of God and designed for that ultimate spiritual experience with God.
The Holy Spirit will use you to make known God’s glory — “Christ in you . . . glory!”
The purpose and design of God to reveal Christ to each one is spoken of: “While you were
yet sinners, Christ died for the ungodly.”
Christina and her husband were living in a nation where there is such a great need for the
message of Christ. Their residency there was terminated by the 9/11 events in our own
nation. The more recent economic global downturn has altered plans for building projects in
a region where Christ is not acknowledged as Lord God. In spite of this, God is using
Christina’s stories of the Holy Spirit’s working through ordinary (and some extra-ordinary)
details to bring about salvation and redemption through Jesus Christ to people everywhere.
It is the Holy Spirit at work–“working all things together for good”—for God’s purposes to be
accomplished in the details of our personal lives and among the nations.
